montpelier's 'china shop' single tour.

[via]

brisbane indie-rockers montpelier have just released their third single, 'china shop'. a departure from their previous recordings, 'china shop' reveals softer harmonies and beautiful, complex instrumental layering. the song begins gently, with greg's soft falsetto, the piano accordion, and subtle drum beats. it is a song that slowly unravels and grows bigger. at about two minutes in, the boys start whistling, which is overlaid with muffled vocals and poetic strings. of course, it wouldn't be a montpelier tune without the soaring vocals and instrumental engery towards the end, which is then stripped back into the softness that punctuates the song's beginning. after having a peep at photos from the filming of the music clip, i'm looking forward to feasting on the song's accompanying visual delight.

these guys are clever, intelligent songwriters, and a band to watch ['they never saw him again' single launch review here]. i am waiting patiently for the release of their debut album. dates for the 'china shop' single tour here. they are one of the most incredible live australian acts i have seen recently.
